This Friday Come Celebrate Independence... FROM DEPENDENCE!

This Saturday our Nation will turn another year older... 233 years to be exact! What a great time of year this is! Red, white, and blue abounds, great music that celebrates a great land, the sights, sounds, and smells of fireworks, and the scent of bar-b-que filling the air.

On Friday, July 3, I am asking you to come out and celebrate America, independence, and victory in Christ... We call it our "Independence From Dependence Picnic", and you are invited. It is FREE! The festivities begin at 4 with smoked brisket/sausage, cole slaw, apple pie, and everything else American that you can think. Following dinner, sometime around 5 we will launch into games. The games will wind down around 7 as we launch into our testimony time. The night will close with our amazing Pastor bringing a message fitting for celebration of liberty.

Last year's event was such a blessing... If you miss... You will be missing out!

Vacation is for Rest and Rest is Impossible Without God!

I was already meditating on this blog when Ember echoes from the back seat, "Why do we have to go to church tonight too?!"

I can't say I blame her! When I was her age I was never to awfully excited about vacation church services. Let's face it... In the mind of a child the church house will probably never be as exciting as The Magic Kingdom!

This blog isn't for kids. It's for you and I. I finally find myself attending church on vacation not because I'm a preacher, or because my dad(and Pastor) is with me. I'm now realizing that without God rest is impossible! It is He who brings peace, rest, and comfort to my heart, mind, soul, and life.

I say that and we would all probably agree that it is true! So, why is it then that we go on vacation seeking rest from the rat race of life, and to ground ourselves again, but we leave out the One who brings us rest? We are seeking grounding, but walk away from our Foundation?

As you get away this summer get closer this summer, and see what True Rest really is!

From my heart,
Richard

Looking Forward Yet Realizing Who is Behind...

As we are about to wrap up "Two Years of Miracle Ministry" we realize the great needs that lie ahead. In a fledgling economy the burdens, stresses, and struggles only increase which pushes more and more people to "escape" even if only for a fleeting moment. We look to break into the jail and court systems, touch the homeless, provide ladies full time care, and meet any other calling the God may call us to.

We have seen God do, in two short years, what some thought impossible and doubted. He is truly an Exceedingly, Abundantly God! We must continue to understand that it is His omnipotent power that backs us and supports us, and His victory that runs before us!

Reformers Unanimous Chapter #520, I am so blessed to be your director. Michelle, Gunner, Ember, and I love each and everyone of you so much! We have all experienced God's amazing grace in such powerful and profound ways! When we wonder if we can press on... If we can serve another day we must remind ourselves that we were once gripped by the same worries, wonders, and fears... He provided then, and He is sure to provide again if we will but ask, and walk in the power of His might!

From my heart,
Richard L. Wallace, Jr.

PS: I saw the picture and couldn't pass it us!

Dr. Clyde Box Bringing Friday's Third Talk

Dr. Clyde Box, my favorite preacher, will be bringing our "Third Talk" on Friday night. We will be celebrating RU Chapter 520's second anniversary on Friday night, June 05 at 7 p.m.

Dr. Box was delivered from a lifestyle contrary to God's purpose and plan many years ago and has now been faithfully serving God for many years now. You will be truly blessed to hear this Spirit-filled preacher, and poet.

Our evening will be filled with exciting testimonies of God's grace, lively music, and great instruction from God's Word.

Spiritual Vertigo...

This morning I was sitting listening to Mike Z. (Journeyman) at RU Awake in Starbucks... We were discussing how God has a tendency to move us from time to time off of center or to knock us off kilter, so to speak. I mean, we all get comfortable with where our lives are at. We get to a comfortable place domestically, spiritually, financially, emotionally, and in every other facet of life. Well, I know that I do!

It seems like just as we get to that place God has to come along and do something to remind us that we are completely dependent upon him. He has to mess up our equilibrium (or, should I say, "Fix our equilibrium"?) so that we come back to the place of relying on Him for EVERYTHING! It is so easy to get comfortable in the comforts that God has provided to us and forget that He is the one who has provided them... ALL OF THEM! Our health, our wealth, our peace, our families... EVERYTHING!

I am a S.C.U.B.A. diver so I know what it is to have my equilibrium not be right. Maybe it was a deep water dive, and I never quite got the pressure adjusted in my ears on the descent... When I come back to the surface my equilibrium is going to be shot for some time! I mean, in my head I know that I am standing on firm footing, I know the world isn't rocking to and fro, but because my equilibrium is messed up my heart just won't buy into what my "head" is telling it!

Are you there in your spiritual life? Have you ever been there? God has brought some things into your life to bring you back to a realization that you MUST have the Comforter, but your faith is now shaken?! Your "head" knows that God only does what is best for us and for His good pleasure. In your mind you know that God is a firm foundation, but your heart is fooling you into questioning your foundation and footing with God... You are experiencing "Spiritual Vertigo"! Romans 8:29 says, "And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Remember the words of Jeremiah from Jeremiah 17:9, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?".

The cure for "Spiritual Vertigo" is the Word and Promises of God. God, His Word, and His Son are the Sure Foundations. Though we may not understand what God is doing in our life at the particular moment we do know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is according to His will and plan, and that it is for our good!
